Contextualization: (1 page, overview)
The French provoked the Seven Years’ War also known as the French and Indian War. The French provoked the war because they build a chain of forts in the Ohio River Valley on an attempt to stop the spread of British Colonies westward near their colonies. The governor sent a small militia towards the fort of Duquesne to try to win control of the Ohio River Valley. George Washington led the troops into surrendering to the French and their ally the Native Americans. The natives had the advantage of the land because they were accustomed to the environment already. Britain's victory in the 7yrs war established then as the dominant naval super power. The colonists were not impressed with the British troops they thought they were not dressed appropriately for the war. Not much happened in the geography of America or its environment that impacted our life today. You can say the stamp act, the sugar act , the quartering act all influenced our geography because it all led to the separation from the King to our own nation but I feel like it is too far-fetched to make correlation. The declaration of independence contributed to new boundary lines that define the United States.
